Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities:
We ask that volunteers commit to volunteering between one and three hours per week. Currently, we need volunteer project managers for the following programs:
Webmaster
Forest Unlimited needs a webmaster that can update our web page once a week. Experience with Word Press is helpful but we can train you in the basics.
Logging Plan Monitoring
Forest Unlimited needs volunteers to read and analyze “Timber Harvest Plans” and “Non-Industrial Timber Management Plans” that have been submitted to CalFire. We will train volunteers on what to look for and how to comment to the official CalFire record.
Watershed Organizing:
Forest Unlimited need volunteers to help organize Sonoma County’s many watersheds. This involves contacting Forest Unlimited members and friends in target watersheds, scheduling watershed formation meetings and publicizing them and publicizing them. Training available.
Urban Forestry:
We have ongoing projects in Sebastopol, Roseland in Santa Rosa and Ducker Creek in Rincon Valley that need project managers. We wish to start watershed groups in Winsor, Healdsburg and Petaluma that will also need managers.
Our City owned Forests Project also needs a manager.
Education & Outreach:
We wish to start a forestry education project for elementary and secondary schools which will need a project manager.
We also wish to start an official student-led Forest Protection Club on both Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University.
